Chiapas is the most southern state of Mexico; it borders with Guatemalan and is home to dozens of cultures and many many languages. Each are of this beautiful areas can be defined by various qualities, and their unique textiles are just one of them. When you enter the state's cities, you can identify who comes from where based on their amazing handmade textiles they are wearing. Sadly, being indigenous, and in a border state, especially in a colonized country, is no where near easy and they have to deal with intense political and social unrest that puts the lives of many at risk.
